I know many of you are new tax preparers and might be worried about how to handle pricing your services since you are the new guy out there, we are here to help.
Why should they pay a high price because you are brand new? They assume they’ll get a deal. Unfortunately sometimes they may expect pricing that doesn’t allow you to stay in business.
Let’s talk in this blog post about how using simple pricing could help you get beyond this challenge.
Value of Simplicity
People love services that are simple and easy to use.
Everyone is so obsessed with checking their email, social media, etc., that it seems like people often have the attention span of a gnat these days.
Use that to your advantage! 🙂
Create a simple and easy to use service. Make it EASY for people to work with you on their tax needs.
One of the best ways to keep things simple is to not have people confused about pricing. Keep it simple! We have seen many new tax preparers enjoy success by just using a flat rate for the first year or two, let’s say $100 a head.
You can always raise prices and complicate your pricing later.
Right now you just want clients and simple pricing is one way to increase your client database.
Not the Time to Worry About Price
Now another tip for you when starting out is to remember to not focus so much on price.
Focus instead on:
- Earning your keep, you just started.
- Focus on doing a good job, because referrals and good online reviews equals money.
- Focus on getting more clients.
The price will take care of itself over time.
Work on Relationship
Developing the relationship with your client will allow you to eventually raise your price.
If you don’t have a good relationship then that client will find a different tax preparer because they will do it for less.
Remember these tips and you are on your way to becoming a great new tax preparer!
And remember, when you’re just starting out, the easier and simpler you make it for me to work with you…the more likely I am to work with you.
Pricing can be one part of that strategy.
