I know you must be thinking oh no, not Walmart®, a tax office can’t be at Walmart!
The thing is though, as it turns out, Walmart is actually a perfect place for a tax office to set up shop. In fact, the tax company Jackson-Hewitt® has enjoyed massive success placing “kiosk” style offices within Walmart.
Your first impression of Walmart may be cheap prices, interesting people, and not your first choice of where to go on a Saturday night.

Why would you want to do your taxes at Walmart of all places?!
Well as with many things in life, something that seems like a questionable idea turns out to be a great idea…just keep reading this blog to find out why this strategy works…any tax preparer looking for cheap, effective office space can learn a lot from what Jackson-Hewitt did in partnering with Walmart.
Convenience
Walmart® is really convenient for a great number of people!
When customers come in to get their taxes done they come back to get their refund right at the same place they’re already going.

They get the refund then they can spend that money on whatever they may need at the convenience that they are already in Walmart.
Your Customers Are Our Customers
The tax preparers set up base at Walmart because of the easy access to their target client group.
Customers that are Walmart regulars often have bigger tax refunds and easier tax returns.

These clients usually aren’t coming in with a ton of documents for the tax preparer so it is actually a more laid back situation for the tax preparer and the customer.
Documents meaning the clients probably only come in with one or two W2s.
Snobs Often Have Trouble Earning a Living
Many people will think, “I am too good for Walmart.”
Even more people will think, “I am DEFINITELY too good to do my taxes at Walmart!!!”
Yes well listen:
There is a reason why Walmart is so successful and it is because they are truly “tuned in” to the needs of their customers!

Whenever you look a little closer into the business world it is easy to see that a snobby attitude often prevents people from achieving wealth.
People who look down on other people, or think unconventional ideas are “stupid,” have a hard time seeing all the possibilties that our economy presents.

You might hate on Walmart® or even McDonalds®, but they are both incredibly wealthy corporations… your hate isn’t phasing them.
So, go on in to Walmart and you might see a tax office, might as well check it out while you’re already there.
If you are new to the tax world and need an affordable, convenient office space where your clients already go, consider taking a page out of Jackson-Hewitt® playbook and find a partner that will allow you to set up a business within a business. You may not be able to get into Walmart® but maybe there is a local retail shop that would be open to letting you have a corner for your desk. We even have one of our tax school Members who put her office inside a laundromat and she is doing very well!
People can laugh all they want but they won’t be laughing when you’re putting those large deposits into your bank account!
